AIMIM party has its headquarters at Aghapura, Hyderabad in Telangana. It runs a newspaper called Indian Etemaad written in Urdu. Historically, the party was formed during the colonial period in India. Hyderabad was until then a princely state in India. In 1927, an idea of forming a pro-Nizam party was conceived. To strategies, a meeting was hosted in the founder’s house i.e Nawab Mahmood Khan on November 12, 1927. Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) was the first formed party. When India annexed Hyderabad state, MIM was banned and Qasim Rasvi jailed between 1948 and 1957. When he was released, he handed over the leadership and went to Pakistan in political asylum.
The new leader, Abdul Wahid Owaisi, organized a restructure of the party to become AIMIM party. It now added All India.
